OKLAHOMA CITY — Accused murderer Richard Glossip is now out on bond thanks to his Hollywood connections.
Numerous outlets have reported that reality TV star and activist Kim Kardashian posted Glossip’s $500,000 bond, and he is now out of prison while awaiting a new trial. Glossip, now 63 years old, was convicted in 1998 for his role in the 1997 killing of Oklahoma City motel owner Barry Van Treese, but the United States Supreme Court tossed his conviction and death sentence early last year.
Glossip has been in prison for nearly 30 years. He’s seen nine execution dates and three last meals before receiving a reprieve each time.
Academy Award-winning Actress Susan Sarandon has also been advocating for Glossip’s release for over a decade and spoke about it on the Dr. Phil Show in 2015, where she read a letter written by Glossip. Sarandon won an Oscar in 1995 for her portrayal of a nun who becomes a spiritual advisor for a man on death row.
