Tulsa man with dual citizenship is sentenced as a sex offender

Razwan Asghar told investigators that he has “a lot of porn,” but working as a nurse keeps him busy.

Aaghar was sentenced Thursday to ten years in prison after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a CyberTip from Kik that a user uploaded photographs consistent with child pornography.

Officers issued a search warrant and discovered that the email address associated with the account was Asghar’s college email address.

When officers spoke with Asghar, he admitted to using his cellphone to view child sexual abuse material, with some children being ages 4-5 years old.

He told agents that he knew trading images and videos of children being sexually abused was illegal, but believed it was not a crime because he was not sexually abusing a child.

After speaking with agents, court documents show that Asghar sold his car, left the United States, and flew to Bahrain to stay with his family.

When Asghar returned to the United States, he was arrested at the Tulsa International Airport.

Asghar was born in Bahrain and is a citizen of Pakistan. He is also a naturalized citizen of the United States.
