TULSA, Okla. — The Beacon Building in downtown Tulsa has been given a new life as an apartment building.
The building at 4th Street and Boulder Avenue held a ribbon-cutting on Thursday to celebrate its grand opening as an apartment.
The building was originally built in 1923 and is one of a few buildings in Tulsa designed in the Beaux-Arts architecture style.
Interior designer Emily Regier said they made some interesting discoveries during the remodeling process.
“It’s just a neat building. It was really fun to come in and find…historical marble that had been covered up for 80 years under carpet and other things like that,” said Regier. “We pulled it out and were able to expose it, and it’s really beautiful finding things like that, and being able to showcase them in a building is really interesting to me, and I’m really proud of the work we did here.”
Most of the 80 apartments in the renovated building are leased.
