TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa pastor, Jackson Lahmeyer, who’s been embroiled in controversy after it was revealed that he sent inappropriate texts to one of his campaign workers, announced today that he is dropping out of the race to fill Oklahoma’s District 1 congressional seat.
Lahmeyer, along with Mark Tedford, had qualified in last night’s primary election to reach the August runoff.
He issued a written news release today, saying that “after prayerful consideration” with his wife Kendra, he is suspending his campaign.
The former campaign worker, Caitlin Simmons Key – who is a Tulsa-based realtor, interior designer, and former Miss Oklahoma – told a British tabloid she had an inappropriate relationship with him through text.
President Donald Trump, who had given his endorsement to Lahmeyer, posted on Truth social that he is now instead transferring his endorsement to Mark Tedford.
