OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma and several other states have been approved to receive $349 million from FEMA to help local communities affected by severe storms.

FEMA announced that Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico were all selected to receive post-disaster funding for Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program projects.

The funds are meant to help rebuild local communities, tribes, and territories while also allowing these places to build safer infrastructure for future events.

An example of projects reimbursed through these funds include the 2017 repairs in Oklahoma by the Tri-County Electric Cooperative following the severe winter storms.

FEMA reimbursed more than $12.2 million for two projects to Tri-County Electric.
