Changes are coming to how community mental health services are managed in parts of Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services announced the agencies that have been chosen to take over operations in four state-operated zones known as catchment areas.

Family and Children’s Services, GRAND Mental Health, CREOKS Health Services and Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Centers were awarded contracts to assume operations in the catchment areas shown below.

  • Catchment Area 4 awarded to GRAND Mental Health
  • Catchment Area 6 awarded to CREOKS Health Services
  • Catchment Area 5 awarded to Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Centers

This only applies to the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) areas highlighted above. ODMHSAS said it will continue to operate state hospitals, forensic services, and crisis programs across the state and will maintain regulatory oversight over the state’s entire behavioral health system.

“ODMHSAS employees have done a tremendous job building and delivering CCBHC services at our state-operated facilities,” said Interim Commissioner Joshua Anderson. “Their expertise, compassion and commitment to Oklahomans helped establish these programs and expand access to care in communities across the state. That foundation has positioned Oklahoma for continued success as this next phase moves forward.”

The state agency said the changes are part of their efforts to strengthen Oklahoma’s behavioral health system and to make sure your tax dollars are being put to good use. ODMHSAS said working with CCBHCs would still provide access to quality care while creating a more efficient and sustainable model.
