CHOUTEAU, Okla. – The Grand River Dam Authority sent 5 first responders to South Central Texas on Thursday to help out with emergency response efforts in areas hit hardest by recent heavy rains and flooding.
GRDA Corporate Spokesman Justin Alberty says Texas sent out a request for mutual aid and Oklahoma Task Force 1 accepted the mission.
Oklahomans will provide swift water rescue teams with highly trained officers.
GRDA first responders have assisted in many rescue efforts in Texas.
They were there last year, following the July 2025 heavy rains and flooding in the same region.
Alberty says, “We’ve always said it’s the Oklahoma standard, neighbors helping neighbors, and the way we see it, Texas is our neighbor, Louisiana is our neighbor. These communities and areas get hit hard by these storms, and if we can go and provide mutual aid with trained men, women, and equipment, then we want to do that.”
