CREEK COUNTY — When the smoke settled, OHP says neither of the two horses died in the Turner Turnpike crash near Kellyville on Wednesday.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lt. Mark Southall tells KRMG there were two horses in the trailer and both survived with minor injuries.
Yesterday, at around 1:30 in the afternoon, a truck towing a horse trailer drifted to the right of the roadway and struck a semi-truck parked on the side of the road. Both trucks burst into flames, killing father and son, Jaime Earp, 52, and Tucker Earp, 22, who were transporting the horses. The father and son were from Jay, Okla.
“We realized quickly they were going to be deceased inside the truck pulling the horse trailer,” Southall said.
The semi-truck driver, John Martin, from New York, received non-life-threatening injuries.
Southall says they don’t know how fast the truck was traveling when it collided with the semi.
