CLAREMORE, Okla. — Rogers State University is celebrating the completion of its Student Veteran Center mural.

Ayla Hudson, RSU’s Veteran Affairs Coordinator, said the purpose of the mural is to honor the university’s veteran students and the school’s military history.

“Within the mural design are various symbolic images,” Hudson explained. “Imagery for land, sea, air and space can be found in the landscape.”

The mural was painted by artist Grant Stacy from Roadrunner Murals in Owasso and was paid for through funds raised during a RSU Foundation Giving Week campaign.

“It was very easy to miss the Student Veterans Center coming onto campus—even with the cool window covers. We’re really excited to now have amazing art that pays tribute to our veteran students, current and future, as well as little nods to OMA. It’s great to see the RSU Foundation funds that were raised a few years ago be put to purpose. We hope all our students and greater RSU community enjoy the mural as they come and go from class, games and other special events.”

Work on the mural began in March and finished in early August.
