Heat Alert issued as triple digit temps continue

TULSA, Okla. – Triple digits, high humidity, and the lack of rain are keeping first responders busy this week.

On Monday, we got a bit of a break from the heat, and EMSA only transported one person to the hospital because of the heat.

A big difference on Tuesday, when EMSA says paramedics responded to 12 heat-related calls and took 7 people to the hospital, issuing a Medical Heat Alert and warning people to take precautions. So far this month, EMSA has responded to 102 heat-related illness calls in the Tulsa area, and 65 of those patients had to be taken to the hospital.

EMSA encourages residents to continue taking precautions during hot weather, including staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activity during peak heat hours, taking frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas, and checking on vulnerable family members, neighbors, and pets.
