BIXBY, Okla. — Bixby Police say they’ve finally identified the remains of a man that were found in the Arkansas River four years ago.
Initially Bixby Police tried doing traditional fingerprint searches and publicizing information about the discovery of the remains, but they came up empty.
Then, they say they gave DNA evidence from the body to Paragon NanoLabs, which led them to possible family members.
They say they eventually came up with the name ‘Rudy’ and, later, the full name Rudolf Von Koerner.
They say they found Koerner’s booking photo from an arrest in 2021 in the Pontotoc County Jail, which showed tattoos that matched tattoos on the body.
They also tracked down his biological sister who also confirmed that the tattoos matched ones that he had.
Still unknown though, police say, is the cause of death.
They say the body had signs of injuries, so they still can’t rule out foul play.
They say they will continue to investigate the case.
