The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the man who was shot by a deputy yesterday near 41st and Sheridan.
Reports said 37-year-old Lucien Auguste was shot after he pulled a gun on a deputy during a pedestrian check. Before 1 p.m., deputies said Auguste was walking in and out of traffic, and he appeared to have something in his waistband.
According to reports, a deputy pulled over to check on Auguste when he pulled a gun and fired twice before being shot by the deputy. The suspect was transported to an area hospital for serious injuries.
Casey Roebuck with the sheriff’s office said, “(Auguste) produced a firearm. Shots are fired. We know we have a few shell casings from the suspect’s gun… The deputy also fires his weapon. The deputy was not injured. Our suspect is down and taken to the hospital.”
The deputy was not injured and was placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
