OKLAHOMA — As Oklahoma prepares for the upcoming winter weather over the weekend, several locations around the state are setting up warming stations for people who need it.
Claremore
Rogers County Emergency Management shared a reminder to residents of warming stations that will be available in the Claremore area starting Friday as winter weather moves in.
RCEM said these warming stations will provide shelter, warmth, meals and other essential services.
Here’s a look at the two warming stations that will be available starting Friday:
Grace United Methodist Church
- Address: 9472 E. Highway 20 |Claremore, OK
- Open beginning Friday at 12:00 PM and continuing through Monday, based on community need.
- Food, showers, and sleeping items provided

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
- Address: 1310 N. Sioux Ave. | Claremore, OK
- Open Friday, January 23 through Monday, January 26
- Open continuously from 12:00 PM Friday until 2:00 PM Monday
- Warm indoor space available | Sleeping bags and blankets provided | Hot drinks and meals served daily
- Breakfast: 9:00 AM | Lunch: 1:00 PM | Dinner: 5:00 PM | Snacks available at other times

RCEM said the warming stations are open to everyone and they encourage residents to share this information with anyone who may be in need during the winter weather. Residents are also encouraged to check on neighbors, especially the elderly and those without reliable heating, and to limit travel when possible.
Okmulgee
Rowe Family Life Center, located at 302 South Seminole in Okmulgee will have a shelter open on Friday, January 23 at 3 p.m. and will stay open unti; Tuesday, January 27 at 12 p.m.
They say they will need volunteers to help with monitoring, signing people in, cooking, or simply visiting with others. They will have sign up sheets for 4 or 8 hour shifts.
Food donations are appreciated. They say Friday evening is covered, but will need meals for the other days.
Some items they are requesting consist of:
- water bottles
- snacks
- games
- puzzles
- movies
The items can be dropped off at the Rowe Center during normal business hours.
If you would like to make a donation, you can go here to contribute. Indicate that the funds are for the warming shelter.
Tulsa
Tulsa will have several locations for shelters. You can find a complete list with guidelines by going here.
The Tulsa Dream Center is looking for volunteers to help with their emergency warming center at TDC West from January 23 to January 26. they have several shifts open. If you can’t volunteer, but would still like to support them, you can text “tdchope” to 28950 to give.
Bartlesville
B the Light Mission will have their warming shelter open from Friday January 23 to Monday February 2 at 219 N. Virginia Avenue. For more information, you can call them at 918-288-0009.
Jay
The City of Jay will open their community center, located at 429 South 9th Street, as a warming station beginning on the morning of January 23. A determination will be made Monday to remain open or close.
Mayes County
The Impact Center of Oklahoma, located at 315 North Adair in Pryor, will open on Friday at 9 a.m. as a warming station for the unsheltered and will remain open until Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Tahlequah
Tahlequah First United Methodist Church will have a warming shelter up in partnership with the City of Tahlequah starting Friday at 5 p.m. and will stay open until Tuesday at 10 a.m. You can go here for more information on how to help them.
Checotah
The City of Checotah will have a warming station at the Checotah Community Center, located at 500 West Owens Avenue. It will open on Friday at 12 p.m. and will stay open unitl Monday at 12 p.m. They say no cots will be provided and no pets will be allowed. Grove
The City of Grove will have a warming station up at the Grove Community Center, located at 104 West 3rd Street. It will open Friday at 3 p.m. and will remain open until Monday at 3 p.m.
Sapulpa
Shoulder2Shoulder Ministries is opening an emergency warming shelter at The HUB, located at 1133 East James Avenue, to help provide a warm play for those experiencing homelessness.
It will be open at 7 p.m. on Friday and will close at 7 a.m. Monday.
They are also looking for volunteers, monetary and item donations. If you would like to help, you can go here for more information.
