OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Tulsa Democratic State Representative John Waldron is stepping down from the Legislature.

The House District 77 representative sent his resignation letter to Governor Kevin Stitt. Waldron says his resignation will take effect on October 1.

The letter states Waldron will not accept the nomination if he receives a majority of the votes cast in the June 16 primary election and is asking Stitt to call a special election for the seat.

Waldron suspended his campaign earlier this week after the online news outlet Non-Doc reported that he sent a potential candidate for office an AI video he made of them kissing while he was Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party.

Waldron resigned as the Democratic Party Chair in December.
