Around 3:52 a.m. on Wednesday, the department received a call reporting a burglary currently in progress at the Okie Express Dispensary located near East 56th Street and South Garnett Road.

The owner of the business told police she’d checked her remote security cameras at the store and saw five people wearing ski masks using crowbars to pry open the front door of her business.

As authorities arrived, they said the five suspects climbed into a dark gray Chevy Malibu and quickly drove away from the area.

Officers said they began to chase the suspects and followed them as they began to drive northbound on South Mingo Road.

As the car approached an underpass beneath Highway 169, police said the five suspects jumped out of the car while it was still rolling and ran up the side of the highway embankment.

Law enforcement then established a secure perimeter and began searching the area for the suspects.

Another group of officers also began to search the abandoned Chevy Malibu.

Authorities said they discovered two yellow crowbars and a pair of heavy wire cutters in the car.

Police said once they looked up the car’s VIN number, they learned it had been reported stolen out of Tulsa.

As officers searched the area, they eventually located one 19-year-old suspect and took him into custody.

A Tulsa Police K9 and his handler then located a 16-year-old suspect hiding in a nearby creek.

Law enforcement said the three other burglary suspects are currently still on the run.

The 19-year-old suspect was taken to the Tulsa County Jail, while the 16-year old suspect was taken to the Community Intervention Center.

The department said both suspects are facing charges of Second Degree Burglary, Felony Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Felony Vandalism/Destruction of Property.
