A deadly house fire in Broken Arrow has claimed a life.
Around 9:42 p.m. on August 6, Broken Arrow Police and Fire crews responded to a home near Elm and Jasper where flames were already tearing through the roof.
A Broken Arrow Police officer attempted to enter the residence but was forced back by heavy fire. Firefighters arriving on scene found the home fully involved and began a defensive attack, evacuating nearby houses as the blaze threatened to spread.
During the primary search, Broken Arrow Firefighters discovered one victim inside the home, unresponsive. Officials later confirmed the individual had passed away.
Crews extinguished the fire by 10:26 p.m., but the second floor’s structural integrity had already been compromised.
The Broken Arrow Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate the cause.
Out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, no further details are being released.
Elm Place has since reopened between Knollwood and Jasper, with all lanes open to traffic.
