Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler held a news conference Tuesday about the criminal charges against Ryan Bassham, the man charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder after the deaths of two people at a marijuana extraction facility last week.
Bassham’s is also charged with Use of a Firearm while committing a felony, Aggravated Manufacturing of CDS (Marijuana), and Aggravated Trafficking of Marijuana.
A judge gave Bassham a $2-million-dollar bond and he was out of jail in just a day.
Bassham was then arrested again for new charges in Creek County.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Bassham was running a separate, illegal grow operation near Kellyville.
Court documents show Bassham was running the Sand Springs operation without a license, and one of the victims who died told medics in the ambulance that the place didn’t have enough ventilation.
Kunzweiler now says Bassham is currently being held without bond in Creek County. He also wants Tulsa County to not allow a bond, saying that there is no amount of bond that will keep everyone safe.
Prosecutors say Bassham was trying to book a flight out of Oklahoma to avoid apprehension.
