As a GE Model School, Parker Intermediate Center serves as a showcase site and will welcome educators from other schools and districts who are seeking to observe the Great Expectations philosophy in action.

Great Expectations President and CEO Dr. Linda Dzialo described Model Schools as “shining stars in the community, state and nation.”

“Earning Great Expectations Model School status for the fourth year in a row speaks volumes about the heart of our school. Our teachers consistently pour into students with high expectations, encouragement and belief in their success. This recognition reflects a culture where students feel valued, challenged and inspired every single day,” said principal Jamie Price.

The Great Expectations Program, founded in 1991, is a scientifically researched educational reform model that has transformed PK-12 classrooms across Oklahoma and beyond, MPS said.

The program empowers educators to expect and receive the best from students, reigniting the joy of learning while driving higher levels of achievement.

“To sustain Great Expectations Model status for four consecutive years is remarkable. Mrs. Price and the entire Parker team continue to set the standard for excellence in McAlester Public Schools.” said Dr. Robert Steeber, MPS Superintendent.

MPS said the foundational principles of Great Expectations include high expectations for all students, a climate of mutual respect, strong student self esteem, a belief that all students can learn, a positive teach attitude and highly skilled educators who inspire success.

More than 80,000 educators have been trained in GE Methodology and GE Model Schools currently operate in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Michigan and South Carolina.
