State Auditor Cindy Byrd’s office says the OKDHS employee is accused of stealing $2 million from the state’s LIHEAP Fund.

LIHEAP stands for Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

The program is meant to help low income working families pay their heat and air bills during bitter cold and brutal summer months.

Byrd says her office found financial discrepancies withing OKDHS’s budget and traced them back to Killion-Letran.

“OIG agents alerted our office on April 29th that, based on further investigation, they believe a DHS employee misappropriated two-million dollars. Our office was notified today that the DHS employee in question has been arrested,” said Byrd.
