TULSA, Okla. — Do you think you could eat 72 ounces of steak in less than an hour with some friends?
A brave few attempted to find that answer at Mother Road Market in Tulsa when they took on the Big Texan Road Show’s 72-ounce Steak Challenge.
One of the participants was FOX23’s morning anchor Ron Terrell. He teamed up with friends from the radio, 103.3. The Eagle’s Bobby Butler and KRMG Morning News Anchor Ben Morgan, as well as content creator Big Ray.
Ron and company combined to finish it since the challenge also included several baked potatoes, side salads, shrimp cocktails and dinner rolls.
The Big Texan Road Show took the trip from Amarillo as a way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66.
“When you think of Route 66, you think of the big Texan or Buck Atoms or the Blue Whale,” says Rhys Martin, President of the Route 66 Association. “But then when you learn about these places you learn like the Big Texan is a family business. You learn that Buck Atoms was this brain child of Mary Beth Babcock or that the Blue Whale’s a love story so you got to have the thing to hook ’em so to speak but then you get to learn more about the community.”
And in case you are wondering…Ron, Ben, and friends managed to beat the 72-ounce Steak Challenge.
